How to Prepare for College Over Winter Break
Winter break is the perfect time to unwind, carve out time with loved ones and catch up on some much-needed rest. While getting your R&R and binging your favorite TV show should be on your list, don’t forget to get your academic ducks in order for the new school year. 2023 is right around the corner, so better to start now. Stay tuned for tips below!
Research Housing
Housing should be at the top of your list. You’ll need to know where you’ll be living in the fall. On-campus housing isn’t mandatory, but first-year students have the options of Piedmont Central, Piedmont North and Patton Hall on the Atlanta campus.
Advantages of living in university housing include making friends on campus and having easy access to get involved on campus, not to mention, having downtown Atlanta right outside your front door.
Manage Your Finances
Finances are another crucial element of your college career. Using the cost calculator, you can estimate what you’ll be paying for your first semester. Hopefully, you completed your FAFSA. If not, you can submit a FAFSA application to take advantage of all the available aid.
Consider opening a student checking account to save money, avoid maintenance fees and even manage your monthly expenses.
Find Your Major
Did you know that Georgia State has over 250 majors, minors and pathways within reach? If you were undecided up until this point and don’t know what to choose, use this major survey to see what’s the best fit for you!
