60 Years in the Making: Perimeter College— Setting the Standard Since ‘64
In 1964, Perimeter College broke the mold as Georgia’s only two-year college supported and controlled by a local board of education. Our first location, Clarkston campus, pounced before the doors could fully open. Two years later, we were celebrating our first commencement and by 1967, launched our world-renowned nursing program.
We could’ve stopped there but didn’t! We opened 4 more campuses, launched an online program, changed our name twice, and joined the University System of Georgia (USG). But the real game changer came in 2015—a change that set students up to create their own way through academic excellence and career advancement.
What happens when two powerhouses combine? Well, you get the largest R1 university in the state of Georgia! In 2015, Perimeter College and Georgia State University (GSU) tied the knot and continued the legacy that we cherish to this day.
Now, with decades of educational excellence, we’re hosting events to commemorate the legacy. Students and staff don’t miss out— celebrate the 60th anniversary with us!
