Other Student Types
Non-traditional First-Year
Non-traditional first-year students are defined as individuals who meet all of the following criteria:
- Have been out of high school at least five years and whose high school class graduated at least five years ago;
- Hold a high school diploma from an accredited or approved high school or have a state-issued high school equivalency certificate or diploma earned through the successful completion of a high school equivalency test approved by the Board of Regents; and
- Have not attended college.

Postbaccalaureate
- Postbaccalaureate applicants may take any course offered at the college, once prerequisites have been satisfied.
- Postbaccalaureate applicants are not eligible for federal or state financial aid, including student loans.
- Postbaccalaureate applicants wishing to change status and become degree-seeking transfer students at Perimeter College must apply for a change of status and meet Perimeter College transfer student admission requirements. In a very limited number of cases, a student also may need to provide a high school transcript showing graduation.

Transient
- An applicant who is enrolled in another accredited college or university and applying to Perimeter College for a specified time to take courses as a visiting student.
- A non-degree-seeking student at Perimeter College.

Deadlines for Other Student Types for Perimeter College
Perimeter College processes admission documents and renders admission decisions on a rolling basis. A student’s application is valid for three terms of entry, including the term marked initially on the application and the following two terms of entry. Students who wish to be considered for a term of entry within this time must complete a reactivation application and required credentials by the document due date for the desired term of entry.

GSU-62
Requirements
The following minimum requirements must be met in order for an applicant to receive a GSU-62 waiver:

Must apply and submit required documentation by the deadline, meet admissions requirements for selected program of study and be accepted. |

Must be 62 years of age or older as of the first week of the semester. |
3
|
Must be classified as a Georgia resident in accordance with the Regents’ requirements for residential status. |
Note: An applicant who has received a bachelor’s degree and wishes to take undergraduate courses without being admitted to a degree-seeking program must complete the post-baccalaureate application steps above. For graduate admissions requirements, refer to the online information for the graduate program in which you are interested. GSU-62 benefits do not apply to courses offered by the College of Law.
Registration
- For GSU-62 students to receive a waiver for tuition and fees, applicants are required to register during late registration on a space-available basis.
- Check the semester calendar for the semester in which you will be registering to determine the first date of late registration.
- GSU-62 students are not able to register until the first day of late registration. GSU-62 students are not responsible for the cost of tuition and mandatory fees. However, they are responsible for laboratory fees or supplies for language courses, music, science, etc.
- GSU-62 students have the option to opt out of the program if they wish to register prior to late registration. Students who opt-out will be assessed regular tuition and fees and will not be covered by the waiver. It will be the student’s responsibility to pay tuition and fees by the payment deadline if they choose to opt-out of the GSU-62 program.
- The applicant will be responsible for student fees associated with obtaining a Georgia State identification card (Panther Card).
Perimeter Admissions Processing Information
Perimeter College will review an applicant’s record to make an admission decision after required documents have been submitted, evaluated and posted to the applicant’s record. Please allow up to 21 days for a final review of your record once your file becomes complete.
An applicant’s Check My Status page is the quickest way to view the applicant’s admission checklist and real-time admission processing updates, including an admission decision.
Documents submitted become and remain the property of Perimeter College and will not be returned to the applicant, duplicated or transferred to another institution. An applicant withholding or falsifying application data or documentation is subject to dismissal without refund.

Gathering Documents
- Official regionally accredited high school transcript with date of graduation
- Official Transcript with the date of graduation from a regionally accredited high school.
- Certificates of Performance or Special Education diplomas are not acceptable.
- Applicants who have not completed high school are required to submit official GED, HiSet, or TASC passing scores and high school transcript.
- Official transcript from each college, university, or technical college attended
- This applies only to applicants with fewer than 30 transferable credit hours.
- Speak to the registrar at your former institution(s) to send transcripts to Perimeter College.
- Applicants must be eligible to return to the last institution they attended.
