New Student Orientation is Open

Complete START@STATE to Register.

New Student Orientation (NSO) is required for all undergrads. Before you can register for NSO, you must complete a series of online modules called START@STATE.

Tip: The sooner you attend NSO, the sooner you register for classes!

Reactivation Application Opened Sept. 3

Were you admitted to GSU previously but never enrolled? If you’re ready to become a Panther, submit your reactivation application to start during a new term. The 2025 Reactivation Application opened Sept. 3.

Georgia State Is Test-Optional Through Summer 2026

First-year students who have a high school GPA of 3.4 or higher can be considered for admission without submitting SAT or ACT scores.* If your GPA falls below 3.4, you should submit test scores to be considered for admission.

Note: The Class of 2026 and beyond will be required to submit test scores. We encourage students in their junior years to begin testing.

*Some merit scholarships may still require you to submit SAT and ACT scores for consideration.

What Type of Student Are You?

First-Year Students

First-year students are graduating high school seniors or recent high school graduates who wish to earn a bachelor’s degree in one of Georgia State’s 250+ undergraduate programs.

Transfer Students

Transfer students are those enrolled at other colleges or universities who want to transfer and take advantage of Georgia State’s extensive selection of programs.

International Students

International students are those who have F or J visas or were educated outside of the U.S. with international credentials.

Transition Students

Transition students are those enrolled at Perimeter College who meet the requirements to transition to the Atlanta Campus and wish to continue their education in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.

MERRIAM KHAN

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

A junior computer science major in the Honors College, Merriam Khan has added a wealth of hands-on training to her resume. She currently holds a research assistantship with the Center for Integrated AI Research at the Edge (CiARE), where she’s part of a team that researches artificial intelligence, robotics and machine learning. It’s a perfect stepping stone for the career path she plans to pursue in artificial intelligence or machine learning.
