NEXT STEPS FOR ACCEPTED STUDENTS
Congratulations on Your Admission
The next steps for accepted international, Perimeter College and dual-enrollment students differ from those listed here for Atlanta Campus first-year, transfer, transient and postbaccalaureate students. If you are an international, Perimeter College or dual-enrollment student, click the appropriate category below to view your steps.
First Steps
Complete these steps as soon as possible after you’ve been accepted to Georgia State so you’ll be ready for the first day of classes.
Set up your CampusID, Email and Web Services
1
|
Set up Your CampusID. You’ll use your CampusID to log in to just about everything. Look up your CampusID, select “Activate New CampusID” Your CampusID is different from your Panther number. Your Panther number is the nine-digit number located on your acceptance letter. It will take about 48–72 hours before you can use your new CampusID to access the student systems. |
2
|
Get DUO. Once you’ve activated your Campus ID and Username, head over to the Duo Activation App to set up your mobile device or phone number for multifactor authentication. DUO helps make sure that it’s really you accessing your accounts. This must be completed BEFORE you set up your PantherMail student email account. Questions? Visit technology.gsu.edu/duo. |
3
|
Set up PantherMail. Get your Georgia State email address. You’ll use this for all communications with the university. Go to PantherMail. |
4
|
Log in to Panther Access to Web Services (PAWS). PAWS is your online portal to registration, student accounts, housing and more. Log into PAWS using your CampusID. While you’re there, check out the New Students section. |
Fill out your FAFSA Application
Your application for financial aid can also verify your citizenship.
Get started with your FAFSA application
(Georgia State’s FAFSA Code is 001574)
This application will determine if you’re eligible for all federal and state aid programs. You’re encouraged to submit a FAFSA, even if you think you’re not eligible for federal aid programs, because this application will review your eligibility for the HOPE Scholarship and other financial aid opportunities. You must have a FSA ID to complete this application.
Submit Intent to Enroll
Complete the Intent to Enroll form so we know you’re coming. No payment is necessary to complete your Intent to Enroll form. You must view your acceptance letter in the Status Update tab before you’ll have access to complete the Intent to Enroll form.
Apply for Housing
The housing application is available in late January. Housing priority will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Verifying Lawful Presence
You must provide verification of lawful presence in the United States to receive in-state tuition. Follow the specific steps outlined.
Sign Up for Orientation
Our Start @ State modules are an efficient, virtual introduction to life at Georgia State. Once you complete Start @ State, you’ll be prompted to register for a New Student Orientation session.
Remember: All first-year students are required to attend orientation. You’ll meet with an adviser, make your schedule and connect with fellow Panthers.
At New Student Orientation, you’ll:
- Tour campus and get to know downtown Atlanta
- Learn the basics of various departments and programs
- Explore campus life and student activities
- Meet some of your classmates, faculty and staff
- Learn about enrollment and financial aid
- Receive academic advisement and register for classes**
Register for Placement Testing (if needed)
Log in to PAWS with your CampusID. Under the New Students menu, you’ll see a tab for Placement Tests that will take you to a registration form. You’ll be required to obtain your PantherCard and present it at the time of your test. Please note, academic departments may have separate testing requirements for your major. Please review this information and contact the department directly if you have any questions.
