Next Steps Checklist

First Steps

Below are the first steps you need to complete.

Campus ID - the account name you'll use to log into pretty much everything.

Find and Activate Your Campus ID

Look up your campusID. Then select "Activate New CampusID" to get started.
The campusID is different from your Panther number. Your Panther number is the nine-digit number located on your acceptance letter.

It will take about 48-72 hours before you can use your new campusID to access the student systems.

You'll use this email address for all official communications with the university.

Go to PantherMail

PAWS is the online portal to access things like student accounts, housing, orientation, and more.

Log In to PAWS using CAMPUS ID

While you're there, check out the New Students tab. View your student record under the Enrollment tab. Click the Campus Resources tab for housing information.

The housing application is available in late January. Housing priority will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

View Housing Options

Your application for financial aid can also verify your citizenship.

Go to Student Financial Services

(Georgia State's Code is 001574)

This application will determine if you're eligible for all federal and state aid programs. You're encouraged to submit a FAFSA, even if you think you're not eligible for Federal Aid programs, as this application will review your eligibility for the HOPE Scholarship and other financial aid opportunities. Please note you must have a PIN to complete this application.

Let us know your enrollment plans for the fall. No payment is necessary to submit your intent to enroll.

Intent To Enroll Form

You must provide verification of a lawful presence in the United States to receive in-state tuition.
New Student Orientation introduces you to the unique world of Georgia State and prepares you to make the most of your academic and co-curricular experiences. It's required for incoming freshmen.

At New Student Orientation, you'll:

  • Tour campus and get to know downtown Atlanta
  • Learn the basics about various departments and programs
  • Explore campus life and student activities
  • Receive your PantherCard
  • Meet some of your new classmates, faculty and staff
  • Learn about enrollment and financial aid
  • Receive academic advisement and register for classes

Sign Up for New Student Orientation (INCEPT)

Classes tend to fill quickly, so if you'd like the best selection of courses, you're encouraged to attend the earliest New Student Orientation date.

*Register for math and/or science placements tests also (if needed). See next item.

(if needed)

Log into PAWS with your Campus ID. Under the Enrollment tab you'll see a menu in the left column.
Register for placement tests by clicking on each link individually.
You're required to obtain your Panther Card ID and present it at the time of your test.

Contact the Panther Card Office for more details.

Your Advisor is available
if you have any questions.

Before Classes Begin

Below are the next steps to complete before classes begin.

Immunizations are required for MMR, Tetanus/Diphtheria, Varicella and Hepatitis B. Fax the completed immunization form to 404-413-1955. If you'll be living on campus, you must also obtain the meningitis vaccine or sign an optional waiver with your housing application from University Health Services.
