GSU 62 13
Do I have to apply online as a GSU-62 student?
Yes, fill out the Georgia State Undergraduate Application.
How can I become eligible for the GSU-62 program?
GSU-62 is a waiver program that covers tuition and certain fees for students age 62 or older. To receive the waiver, the following conditions must be met:
- The applicant must first apply for and be accepted to the University as either a Freshman, Transfer, Postbaccalaureate, or Graduate.
- The applicant must be 62 years old as of the first week of the semester.
- The applicant must be a resident of the State of Georgia.
- Once accepted, the applicant may not register until the first day of late registration.
- GSU-62 students have the option to opt-out of the program if they wish to register prior to Late Registration. Students who opt-out will be assessed regular tuition and fees and will not be covered by the waiver. It will be the student’s responsibility to pay tuition and fees (mandatory fees and lab fees for language courses, music, science, etc.) by the payment deadline if they choose to opt-out of the GSU-62 program.
How do I know what classes are available?
The Schedule of Classes is available in PAWS. You will need to log into PAWS, click the “Schedule of Classes” on the right of the screen in the Registration Information section. Select the semester you are looking for, the degree level of your course, and the subject for the classes you would like to browse (English, Math, Science, etc.). Once selected you will be able to view the remaining spots available, dates, and times for each course.
For a more detailed walk-thru of the registration process, view the Self Service Student Registration Demo.
How do I know which student type to apply for?
Read the requirements for the various undergraduate student application types. Graduate students should refer to the college of their choice for the application steps and requirements.
How long will it take to process my file?
It normally takes from four to six weeks to process a file, depending on when the application and documentation are received. The sooner everything arrives, the sooner we can process the file and make a decision.
I’ve been accepted. What do I do next?
Review the information on our Next Steps for Accepted Students page.
If I have copies of my transcripts, can you just take those?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept transcript copies from students. Official transcripts from each institution you have attended must be requested by you personally. You must provide official transcripts from all institutions and they must arrive in a sealed envelope directly from the home institution. The transcript(s) can either be mailed directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or brought in as long as it remains unopened and in the original package. Schools can mail transcripts directly to the address below.
Transcript Mailing Address (for bachelor-level students only):

If I just want to audit (sit in) a class do I still have to go through the application process and turn in all my transcripts?
Yes. Enrolled students who wish to audit a course must get approval from the Academic Department offering the course by submitting a Class Audit Request in PAWS. Georgia State University requires that students apply and be admitted before they can audit a class. After a student is admitted they must receive permission from the class instructor to audit the course. Please see the Registrar’s website for more information regarding the Class Audit Request.
If I’m accepted, when and how do I register?
Once accepted, you may not register until the first day of late registration.
GSU-62 students have the option to opt-out of the program if they wish to register prior to Late Registration. Students who opt-out will be assessed regular tuition and fees and will not be covered by the waiver. It will be the student’s responsibility to pay tuition and fees by the payment deadline if they choose to opt-out of the GSU-62 program.
What academic counseling is available to me?
Freshman, or transfer students with fewer than 90 hours are advised by the Student Advisement Office; the Office of Academic Advisement in each of the academic colleges counsels applicants with 90 or more transferrable hours; all academic assistance at the graduate level comes from the graduate advisors in each graduate college. Postbaccalaureate applicants, as they are not degree seeking, do not receive academic advisement.
Once you are accepted as an undergraduate student, a “Next Step” letter will be sent which will include information on advisement.
What if I get ill, or discover I’m overwhelmed by the classwork after a week or two? Or what if I just don’t like the class?
You can discuss this with the professor if you wish. However, please note that it might be to your advantage to withdraw from the class. If you do not intend to complete the class (regular attendance, completion of required work, etc.) you must withdraw or risk a failing grade.
What if the class I want is closed?
You can go to the professor and ask if it is possible to get an overflow. If he agrees, he can tell you the procedure for getting the overflow added to your student record. Overflows are not automatically granted, and it is not mandatory that professors do so. There are also fire safety regulations which limit the number of people in classrooms.
When should I apply, and what documents will I need?
You can review deadlines for each application type. Graduate students should refer to the college of their choice for application deadlines.
