Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is an interdisciplinary field of study focusing on gender, sex, sexuality, feminism and womanism. WGSS offers a cutting-edge academic program focusing on three areas:

• Globalization

• Sexuality Studies

• Social Change

The Institute is a collective of core and affiliate faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, staff, alumni and community partners that collaborate to create meaningful research and practice. Through our multifaceted work, we examine social constructions and intersections of race, class and gender. We evaluate political and social equality, posit the creative power of art and artists, and reinforce commitment to advance human rights.

Program Details

High School Seniors and Recent Graduates
If you’re a senior in high school or if you graduated from high school within the last two years, you’ll apply to begin your bachelor’s degree program using Georgia State’s Common Application.

International students
International applicants are those students who are in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa (B-1, H-1, J-1, etc.), students who are living outside the U.S. and who will require an F-1 visa to study in the United States, students who are in the process of applying for Permanent Residency status, but have not yet received the Permanent Residency card or students who have been educated outside the U.S.

Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies undergraduate courses fall into three strands: Sexualities, Race and Globalization and Social Change. Each student focuses her or his studies on a particular strand and is required to take at least three courses from that strand. The remaining required courses may be taken from other strands or from general WGSS course offerings.
