GEORGIA STATE IS TEST-OPTIONAL THROUGH SUMMER 2026
Before You Get Started
Georgia State University is test optional through summer 2026. This means you may not be required to submit SAT or ACT scores with your application for admission for bachelor’s and associate degrees as well as dual enrollment programs.
Take a look at the information below and use our calculator to see what might be the best option for your application.
1. We can use your First-Year Index for admission into the university. The First-Year Index is a formula based on your grade point average (GPA) and submitted test scores.
OR
2. You may apply using our test–optional method. For applicants with a 3.4 GPA or higher (recalculated based on the 17 units of the Required High School Curriculum), we will not require test scores for an admissions decision through summer 2026. It’s important to note, applicants with a GPA below 3.4 are encouraged to submit their test scores.
If you apply without test scores and have below a 3.4 GPA, you may either be placed into our Summer Success Academy or Panther Gateway Program or admitted to our Perimeter College (which offers associate-level degrees). As a Perimeter College student, you can transition to the Atlanta Campus and pursue a bachelor’s program once they have obtained a 2.0 or higher GPA and completed 30 or more credit hours in our Perimeter College.
