Yes. All grades will be calculated in your transfer GPA.

Transfer and transition students must complete the online Start @ State modules to have their Orientation Hold removed. If an in-person orientation session becomes available, you will be notified by email.

If you have completed fewer than 30 semester credit hours or 45 quarter credit hours of college-level coursework, you must meet all first-year requirements AND submit one of the following:

• Official high school transcript showing a 3.4 or higher core GPA (recalculated based on the 17 units of the Required High School Curriculum) OR

• Official high school transcripts and official test scores sent electronically for the SAT or ACT (or both, if you so choose)* (Note: High school GPA is recalculated based on the 17 units of the Required High School Curriculum.)

SAT/ACT test scores are only required for transfer students who have earned fewer than 30 hours of transfer credit and cannot show a 3.4 or higher core GPA on their high school transcript. Note: Some merit scholarships may still require test scores.

You only need to submit transcripts if you attended another institution in between your time at one of Georgia State’s campuses. If you’ve only been at Perimeter College or the Atlanta campus, no additional transcripts are required. For example, if you attended Perimeter College in the spring, took summer courses at another college, and then transitioned to the Atlanta Campus in the fall, you’ll need to provide an official transcript from that other institution. Official transcripts can be sent electronically through GAfutures.org or mailed directly to Georgia State at the following address:

Yes. Once you have received your final grades, you will need to send a final transcript. If you’re still enrolled in classes when you submit your transcript, you will also need to send us your final transcript to show you are not enrolled in an upcoming term. For example, if you are enrolled in classes for the fall term but plan on attending GSU in the fall, we need a transcript showing that you are no longer enrolled at that institution. Official transcripts may be mailed from your school to Georgia State or sent electronically through GAfutures.org.

Tip: Make sure to “hold” for final grades when requesting a transcript. Otherwise, it might be sent with “in-progress” grades.

Students must have an active registration time ticket to register for classes. All students are assigned registration time tickets. You can find yours on PAWS about two weeks before registration begins. Registration time-ticket assignments are valid from the beginning of your assigned time through the last day of registration. Because many classes fill up quickly, you should begin registration on your assigned start date and time. If you cannot register because you do not have a current time ticket or active registration status, contact the Enrollment Services Center.

Any student enrolled in a “pre-major/exploratory” is classified as working toward the prerequisites to meet the major’s entrance requirements. Some pre-majors require certain grades in field of study courses, minimum GPA requirements or a formal application process. Speak with your academic adviser to determine your requirements. Please view the catalog for major requirements.

While Georgia State offers a wide range of online courses, we do not offer online courses for all majors. Some programs have additional restrictions or requirements. Please visit Georgia State Online to find out more information.

Unfortunately, at this time, attendance at Georgia State’s Perimeter College is required since the downtown Atlanta Campus does not award associate degrees. You can speak with your academic adviser for further details if you previously attended Perimeter College  or are interested in transitioning to a certain campus to complete your associate degree.

This does not disrupt your pursuit of  your bachelor’s degree.

This does not affect your financial aid while attending the Atlanta Campus.

This does not affect your HOPE scholarship. HOPE pays for your first bachelor’s degree, not just your first degree.

Unfortunately, at this time, attendance at Georgia State’s Perimeter College is required since the downtown Atlanta Campus does not award associate degrees. You can speak with your academic adviser for further details.

Students are only eligible to be awarded one associate of arts and one associate of science degree.

Not a problem! You will still be reviewed and cleared for graduation as normal. If you have any courses from the Atlanta Campus that will assist in completing your associate degree, they will still apply toward graduation.

• If you are currently pursuing a degree on the downtown Atlanta Campys that did not match your pathway at GSU’s Perimeter College, we have several options:
• First, we will try to match your new major with a Perimeter College degree pathway. For example, if you were pursuing a computer science pathway and now you’re working on a business degree on the Atlanta Campus, we can still award you an associate degree in business administration if you meet the qualifications.
• Second, if we cannot match up a pathway with your current major on the Atlanta Campus, an associate degree in general studies will be awarded to you.

Associate degree diplomas will only state whether you earned an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science. They will not specifically state the pathway you were pursuing. That will only be on your official transcript.

Diplomas will be mailed 8-10 weeks after graduation conferral. This typically happens about two weeks after a semester has ended. Make sure your mailing address is up to date.
