RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS
Establishing Georgia Residency
To qualify for in-state tuition, you must establish Georgia residency. Here’s how that works:
- You (if over the age of 24) or your parent(s) must have lived in Georgia for at least 12 consecutive months immediately before your enrollment at a college or university.
- Students MUST verify Lawful Presence as established by the University System of Georgia. More information can be found here.
- If you entered Georgia to attend an educational institution, your time in school is not normally counted toward the 12-month residence requirement.
- Your “legal residence” is your permanent home.
- You must not only live in Georgia but also intend to remain in Georgia indefinitely.
