When an applicant is accepted for undergraduate transfer admission, courses completed with grades of C or better (D grades discussed below) that parallel the curriculum of Georgia State (exclusive of developmental, vocational, occupational courses, etc.) will be accepted for transfer credit, provided they were earned at institutions of higher education with full accreditation.

The determination of how transfer credit may be used to satisfy specific course requirements for a degree is made by the department that administers the degree program. Also, the department may elect to test the student’s proficiency in transferred course work.

These general guidelines apply to transfer credit:

• A maximum of 12 semester hours of D grades (including both Georgia State and transfer credits) may be applied toward degree requirements. However, transfer credit will not be given for English composition courses with grades of less than C. Additional restrictions may be included in certain degree programs. Be sure to check the description of your planned degree program in the current Undergraduate Catalog.
• Students can view transfer equivalencies online. This information is for reference only. Equivalents are subject to change upon official evaluation by Georgia State. The inclusion or exclusion of courses on this list does not guarantee or automatically preclude the acceptability of courses.
• Because Georgia State has a minimum academic residence requirement (30 credit hours for bachelor’s degrees and 15 hours for associate degrees), the amount of transfer credit applicable to a degree program may be further limited.
• Georgia State does not grant credit for College-Level General Educational Developmental Tests, USAFI courses, or courses completed at any United States armed forces service school, with the exception of the military academies. Some credit may transfer with a 1099, 2099, 3099 or 4099 number (for example: BIOL 2099 or HIST 1099). If you receive credit with one of these numbers, it means that although Georgia State does not offer an equivalent course, we did award you general credit for the transfer course. Speak with your adviser if you believe that a specific class should be applied toward your degree.

All transcripts will be evaluated. Courses vary from school to school and do not always transfer. You can view your transfer credit and see how your courses will apply to your degree program through your PAWS account. Once you receive your course evaluation, make sure all of your transfer credit has arrived.
