Robert Hatcher conceived the idea for his startup company, Aurign, in an undergraduate entrepreneurship class at Georgia State. An amateur musician and songwriter, Hatcher created a virtual music studio using blockchain technology — a kind of electronic ledger and the premise behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin — to track a song’s development from start to finish. His company ensures musicians and producers get the royalties they’ve rightfully earned.
