For incoming students only, whose residence is considered out-of-state for tuition purposes (including international students), Georgia State University may offer merit-based waivers of all or part of the out-of-state portion of tuition based on academic performance in high school, for incoming freshmen, or based on college GPA, for incoming transfer and transition students with less than 90 credit hours. Incoming freshmen must have at least a 3.6 college preparatory GPA or higher in order to be eligible for review and transfer and transition students must have at least a 3.6 college GPA or higher to be eligible for review. No application is required, priority is given to students who have applied by November 15 and awards are made on a first-come, first-serve basis and depending on the availability of funds. Undocumented and DACA students are not eligible for this scholarship.
This scholarship allows students to pay in-state tuition rates instead of out-of-state tuition rates and it is not a tuition free scholarship. If you receive this award, then it is renewable based on maintaining full-time enrollment status at Georgia State University and at least a 3.0 Georgia State institutional GPA. The categories for this scholarship are listed in the table below. Recipients will receive an award letter via email starting on December 15 and must accept the award contract online by May 1. Awards will be applied to students’ accounts approximately two weeks before the fee payment deadline and only after registration for at least the minimum of 12 credit hours has been verified. If you were awarded the Campus Atlanta Scholarship at Perimeter College, it will not automatically roll over to the Atlanta campus and you will need to be re-evaluated.
